Restrictions on how many external sort processes are run simultaneously

The Indexing process can effectually reduce the processing speed to a crawl when too many
sort processes taking too much memory are run simultaneously.

Testing NAS-2051 in our test-environment unearthed this problem.

Also one should perhaps look at how to restrict the memory-usage of a single sort-process.
