Implement logging of the time to perform longlasting operations

Wew are currently rather clueless as to where the tie is spent when the system slows down.

We should implement a 'PerformanceLogger' which can be used to log performance related information.

The logger should be independent of the normal system log, so this logger can be enable even though the general system log level is Error/Warn.
